The IQ's small footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are both nice features. However, if you wish to change the floor levels on the map, or set no-go zones, you'll need manually reset it to do so, which is somewhat of an inconvenience.
The IQ app provides advanced mapping and automated functions, however it isn't equipped with no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. Its smart-pathing navigation system provides greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, although it does have a tendency to get caught up on rug tassels. Its iHome speaker lets you operate the robot by voice commands.
During our tests, we discovered that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to get rid of lots of debris on floors that were unfinished, and a fair amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less effective with shag carpets, where it struggled to get at dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of chairs, small spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on flooring that was not fully covered but it was able to recover speed and was more efficient than the other robots we have tested.
The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge, and is capable of getting over obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky mess. On the other hand the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer components that require maintenance or replacement and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance and creates virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It can continue cleaning from where it left off, even if its battery runs out before it's finished. The iRobot can also be controlled with voice, which can be an advantage for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum on the market however it offers powerful cleaning capabilities at an affordable price. This robot vacuum is designed for consumers with a tight budget who do not require a complicated mapping system, or even an app, to control it. The robot can run for up to an hour and comes with the remote, a cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek, with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic finished to appear like brushed aluminum. It's a nice contrast to Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.
The eufy11S was successful in our tests to remove larger debris and fine dust from hard floors. It struggled to deep clean medium and high-pile carpets. The device is prone to hit people and furniture in its route. However, it is able detect obstacles using sensors. It ceases and emits a loud sound when it encounters an obstacle. You can then manually guide the device around it and restart it.
Another great aspect of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the type of floor and the amount of dirt. It's also simple to use the remote to direct the 11S in the direction you want it to move.
If you don't have many furniture in the room you're looking to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.
