The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
The Q Revo is a great option if you're looking to buy a mid-priced robot vacuum and mop. It has a great mopping capability, but it lacks certain of the more advanced features of its more expensive counterpart.
In tests, it was able to tackle dry oats and dust on carpets of medium pile and pet hair on hard floors. It doesn't use LIDAR, however, as other models do, to identify your home.
1. Roomba S9+ from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba S9+ is one of the most highly-rated robot vacuums. It offers impressive cleaning power and plenty of features, including an automatic dirt bin built into its charging base. The robot also learns your habits of cleaning and suggest schedules that are automatic to ensure you have a hands-free experience.
Setup is easy, thanks to the iRobot Home app that walks you through the process. Once everything is connected, you can start the automatic cleaning functions at the click of the button. You can choose the general clean option, which prioritizes the removal of larger particles like cereal and rice. You can also select two detailed mappings to ensure that your home is thoroughly cleaned.
This vacuum works well both on bare floors and carpets with low pile. It sucks up large items and doesn't lose suction as rapidly as some others do and can clean up pet hair with ease. It's a challenge with plush or high-pile carpets, but iRobot says that future models will be more efficient.
The S9+ is a new design from iRobot that focuses on enhancing the edge and corner cleaning. It's the first Roomba to adopt a flat-fronted, D-shaped design, which it hopes will allow it to be able to swaddle furniture and walls. It's a great improvement over the hockey puck-like design of the majority of robovacs. However, we discovered it to be only marginally better than circular models.
iRobot claims that the S9+ also comes with an advanced filtration system which blocks microscopic particles and allergens recirculating within your home. We think this is a nice claim but not enough to justify a higher price.
Its smart navigation system uses sensors to store the arrangement of your home and vSLAM to map your interior of your home. This allows it to avoid obstacles like staircases and other barriers, and also to clean your entire home in the most efficient manner possible. The iRobot Home app lets you control the robot and set cleaning times, as well as create virtual boundaries, so it knows to avoid areas that require extra attention.
2. Roborock Q Revo
When it comes to robots that combine vacuuming and mopping, the Roborock Q Revo is a standout. Its vacuum settings are as good as those found on more expensive models. And its mopping system is superior as its spinning pads scrub your floors much better than a vibrating pad.
The only downside is that it doesn't have a second rubber brush for deeper cleaning, but that's a small cost to pay for if you are looking for one of the top robots available. The robo-vac's tank for dust is also larger than many of its rivals, and it takes just two or three cycles to fill it, even with the highest dirt level.
As for the mopping device, I was amazed with its ability to scrub hard-to-clean dirt from my floors. The two mopping settings that it has, which are less powerful than the high-powered modes, produce very little noise, so you can work or even watch TV without being distracted. It will gently hit a wall or furniture and then move away when it encounters one.
The Q Revo is unique in that it operates almost entirely on its own, requiring only minimal user involvement. The dock of the robo-vac can be multi-functional and automatically transfers trash into a hidden bin. It also cleans, dries and refills the clean water tank. The app will only notify you when something is wrong, such as the water tank being empty or a cancelled vacuuming session due to an empty bin.
You can also create or merge actual rooms in order to personalize the way Q Revo treats your home. This feature is helpful when you have different flooring in different areas of your home or if you need to regularly clear out clutter such as clothes, toys and books. The robot vacuum was also one of the top performers in my tests cleaning up debris from both carpets as well as hardwood floors on the first attempt. It is able to vacuum up wet spills. I recommend drying the area with a towel prior to sending it into.
3. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni
The X2 Omni has all of the features you'd want from a premium robot vacuum and mop combo and more. Similar to the iRobot Roomba S9+, it is a top-quality vacuum with a powerful suction that cleans hard and carpet floors, plus a rotating mop that scrubs tough stains. It also has a self-cleaning base station that automatically cleans and empty the mop pads, keeping them free of germs and ready to use again. It also features a new sensor system that better detects obstacles, giving it the ability to prevent falling over furniture or other objects.
The most significant improvement over the ECOVACS Deebot X1 is that this version has a sleeker, more modern design thanks to Danish firm Jacob Jensen Design (best known for its Bang & Olufsen products). While robot vacuum and mop still quite big--it's over two feet in height and depth and weighs in excess of four pounds--the entire robot and its base are smaller than the Roborock Q Revo or iRobot j7.
This version is more efficient than the X1 since it charges faster and can clean 1,500 square feet in one charge. It also has a bigger and more durable dustbin that can hold more debris. This makes it easier to empty.
Finally lastly, the X2 Omni has a more user-friendly app and a voice assistant that works offline, allowing you to control it even when you're not home. It also comes with more mopping options and an intelligent routing feature that allows you to clean specific rooms or areas of your home instead of simply following a predetermined route.
The X2 Omni is the top robot for mopping. Its rotating mop pads clean tough stains and its motor produces lots of downward pressure. Its vacuuming performance is outstanding, and it also increases suction when it senses carpets to ensure thorough cleaning. It has a large rechargeable battery that lasts up to one week. The mopping feature of the robot is also powerful.
4. Dreametech L10s Ultra
The Dreametech L10s Ultra is a premium mop and vacuum robot that comes with a host of convenience features that you aren't likely to find on robots of this price range. It can build detailed floor maps, identify different flooring types and is among the few that can automatically wash and dry its mop pads. But while these functions are useful however, they also put the L10s Ultra in the luxury category and could mean it's somewhat more expensive than some homeowners require.
The L10s Ultra looks like a modern floor cleaner. It is tall and slim and has a white-colored finish accented with silver elements and mirror plating. The front of the machine is dominated by an enormous bumper, which protects furniture and vacuum cleaners from damage when moving through the house. In the pane in the front is additional navigation technology in the form of sensors that aid the L10s Ultra maneuver tight corners and avoid obstacles.
On the top of the vacuum, there is a single button which acts as an on/off switch. This button will turn on the vacuum. Clicking it again will shut it off and send it to its base station. The circular menu at the center of the control panel allows you to choose cleaning modes, schedules and preferences. The left and right buttons will open the app's settings where you can customize how the L10s Ultra interacts with your home.
Similar to the iRobot Roomba S9+ and Roborock Q Revo, the L10s Ultra uses a combination of LIDAR and camera-based navigation techniques to map out your house. This creates a precise floor plan that enables the robot vacuum and mop effectively and avoid getting stuck in messy areas. The LIDAR also helps the robot vacuum recognize and avoid obstacles and obstacles, which is a wonderful feature for households with pets or children.
The L10s Ultra provides solid vacuuming performance that clears 98.4 percent of the debris from our hard-floor test and getting rid of all but the most stubborn juice stain. Its mops are also quite efficient, removing 98.4 percent of debris from our wood, tile, and carpet tests. It was not as effective in removing sand from our hard flooring or quaker oats off the carpet.
