Its combinator brush gets to corners and edges, and then automatically increases suction when it senses carpet. It also does a good job of cleaning dirt from mid-pile carpet. The IQ has a tiny footprint and has a self-emptying feature. However, if you want to alter the floor level on the map or create no-go zones, you'll have manually reset it to do so, which is somewhat of trouble.
The IQ app comes with advanced mapping and automated features, however it does not have no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing system of the app allows for superior maneuverability and the high-pile feature of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient but it could get caught in the tassels of the rug.
During our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair well. It was able to eliminate the majority of hair on floors that were not bare and a decent amount on medium-pile rug. It was less efficient with shag carpets, as it struggled to get at dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It was able navigate the legs of chairs, small spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was slower on flooring that was not fully covered however, it was able to recover speed and performed better than other robots we have evaluated.
The IQ is a better option over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a bigger dust bin, lasts longer on a charge and is capable of maneuvering itself around obstacles. It comes with a mopping tool that can clean up sticky messes. On the other side, the iRobot feels better-built, has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance, incurs lower recurring costs and creates virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It can even restart a cleaning session from the point it started if it has run out of battery before it has completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be a big plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum around, but it does offer excellent cleaning power at the price of. It's designed for those who don't require a complicated mapping system or an app to control the device. The robot can run for more than an hour and comes with the remote, a cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim, sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that appears like the brushed appearance of aluminum. It's a nice stylistic contrast to Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.
In our tests, the eufy11S was very effective in removing larger particles and fine dust on hard flooring. However, it was unable to provide medium and high pile carpets a thorough clean. The device is prone to hit furniture and people in its route. However, it can detect obstacles with sensors. If it encounters them it ceases to move and emits a loud beep so you can manually steer it around the obstacle and get it back to work.
Another excellent feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot to automatically adjust its suction power to match the floor type and level of mess. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to your desired area.
If you don't have much furniture in the area you want to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy will take 30 minutes focusing on cleaning the area it's assigned to.
You can also opt for Edge Cleaning, which reduces the amount of time spent in each location to 20 minutes for maximum battery life. This option allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern by cleaning edges and corners.
